Lexington and 42nd (Off Field Seres #1) by Kim Carmody

Goodreads Review

It was meant to be the job opportunity of a life time.

It turned out to be so much more…

At the age of twenty five, Emma Lexington takes off to New York on a once in a life time twelve-month job exchange with the New York Warriors. Determined to make the most of the opportunity, she prepares herself for life in the big apple—fast paced, exciting and a whole lot of fun. What she hasn’t prepare for though, is meeting him.

The charming Will Jensen is in the prime of his playing career. As the star quarterback for the Warriors, his carefree, football centric life is thrown into disarray when he meets Emma, the beautiful, easy going Australian girl who joins the Warriors staff.

Unwilling to throw her professional reputation away on a fling with the playboy quarterback, Emma turns down Will’s advances, even though she can’t deny the attraction she feels for him. Their pull toward one another grows, but it takes a near disaster for Emma to finally give Will a chance.

Getting together might have been hard, but figuring out how to stay together will prove even more challenging as Emma must decide between conflicting loyalties.

Lexington and 42nd is a fun, sexy romance, set in the exciting world of the NFL in the fabulous city of New York.

I have a lot of mixed emotions on this book. It varied from

To

But seriously I felt like I ran a marathon with this book and then I collapsed into a pile on the floor. I’m still frigging exhausted.
I was stoked when I saw that this book was Netgalley and even more so when the author approved my request.
Now the important part peeps.

All In all I give this book 3.5 ‘Bambi & Quarterback’ Stars. I know it’s a bit shite of me to split the stars but I’ll round it up to 4 Stars anyway.
Emma Lexington has the once in a lifetime opportunity. A trial exchange program to move from Sydney and the football club she works for to go and work with the American football team, the New York Warriors. Sounds simple but it ain’t.   Emma drove me up the bloody wall. I had somewhat of a connection with Emma, I personally thought that she overreacted on some things.
Will Jensen, Quarterback of the New York Warriors. All American guy, good looks, lovely personality (most of the time anyway.) He see what he wants and he always gets his way.
Emma has two things that she needs to stick to.
First
“Don’t fuck this up, Lexington. Otherwise we’re all out of a job.” See what I mean? Loud and clear.
Second
Don’t get schmoozed by the Quarterback, maybe also recognize said Quarterback otherwise things might just get worse.
It is a battle of the wills
“God! It’s frustrating how you always get your way.” Will laughed. “Trust me, I’m nowhere near getting my way with you.” I whirred around to face him. “Excuse me?” His eyebrows shot up. “Sorry, sorry. Friends, we’re just friends. I didn’t mean that.”
At 31 % I thought that we were finally getting somewhere but alas no. Finally a miracle occurred at 65 % of the book, Emma finally conceded at succumbed to her feelings for Will. Obviously it all went tits up and this is what I don’t get. So you don’t trust him you have issues but for me it was just too much. Good thing I can have my own opinion right.
In the end with everything I don’t think Emma deserved to be with Will. I mean really Emma?

We do get Will’s POV with the epilogue.
So I might have stated that I didn’t agree with some things. But what made it a good book was that as far as I can tell it is a debut novel for this author and well I just can’t wait to hear/read more from this author.
